Poetry by John B. Juat
John has been so prolific in writing poems in Filipino and English on various themes, foremost among them pro-life and pro-family themes. I share here first the poetry he composed on the spot while listening to our Trainors' Training session last February 2010, to kick off activities for the then-future "Alalay sa Pamilya at Bayan" [Support to the Family and the Nation] Foundation:

Pagiging Isang Apostol

Next is his very moving piece "Buhayin Mo Ako...Mahalin Mo Ako", which is a very pro-life poem, from the perspective of the baby in the womb (!) I was telling John during APBF launch night that the poem's theme resonates well with the pro-life activity of the late Ruth Pakaluk, the 'most pro-life woman in Boston', whose motto was "PRO-LIFE, PRO-LOVE", which means to "generate life is to love".
Buhayin Ninyo Ako… Mahalin Ninyo Ako
by: John B. Juat
May kakayahan ako maging mabuting tao

Here's John's own translation to English of the "Life=Love" poem above:
Give me life… Give me love
By John B. Juat
What do you really intend to do?
I have a right to live in this world!
Mother, father, please hear me
I want to be a part of this world!
I do not want to disobey your commands
I also do not want to have a lot of enemies
If your love for me is true
Give me a chance; Allow me to live
There are so many people not given a chance
I wish….I will be given all my rights
Mother, Father, take me into your home
Where I will surely experience love
I was chosen by the Almighty God
Even though I’m not yet born, I already have dignity
Please, show me your unconditional love
And let me grow in knowledge and character
Listen carefully to my plea
My heart is not dirty and filthy
The beauty of the world, I want to see
I also want to experience wading in the beach
Please hear me, my dear parents
I want to face life with strength and courage
I want to grow up to be a good and respectful person
Even if you have to sacrifice, I wish I’ll be given a chance
Dear parents, I am not a cause for suffering
I’m only young and I have a good future ahead.
True, to raise me, you will have to exert effort
But let me live and I will soar beyond the sky
Is my life only a dream, a fantasy?
I wonder when, when will I be heard?
Wake me up from this terrible nightmare
My only wish for now is that I’ll be loved!
Understand that I have a mind and a heart
I have the capability to be a good and responsible person
Let me live, let me live
Love me, love me
My dear parents, please no longer suffer
Make me the reason for your joy and peace
Do not worry; I will grow up to be a good and responsible individual
Give me this chance, and I will follow what you teach me
Listen to me carefully in your heart
And you will surely hear my cry.
I hope my wish will be granted, that I be given a chance to live
Do this because of Jesus’ love for you and me.
