Launch of CaChET for DepEd Caloocan Division schools
We were at Pag-asa Elementary School (Caloocan) today for the presentation of Alalay sa Pamilya at Bayan Foundation's "Campaign for Character Education Tenacity (CaChET) program.
We thank Ma'am Ailene Canoy as well as Division Superintendent Dr. Carandang for gracing the occasion and welcoming us to Caloocan Division.
I ask the reader to pray that all of those who attended today would have the tenacity to regularly attend the training programs and mentoring sessions, for the revival of the high moral values of the Filipino people, through our schools and their family communities.

Inquirer.net - Launched on June 16, 2010, the foundation has reached more than 20,000 public school students, who are grateful to have discovered the value of faith and daily work, faith and study, and faith and family life.
Alalay sa Pamilya at Bayan Foundation [APBF] empowers public school communities, youth, parents and teachers through character formation, teaching them to become God-fearing, productive, responsible and self-reliant. It aims to revive the high moral and cultural values of Filipinos and make them responsible and happy members of society.
APBF believes character education is key to helping young people see what is true, good and beautiful in life despite hardships at home, in school and elsewhere. Volunteers share their time and talent, skills and experience to teach children the basics of Christian living and values formation.

Inspired by the message of St Josemaría Escrivá, founder of Opus Dei who taught that everyone was called to be holy in their ordinary duties, Alalay sa Pamilya at Bayan Foundation (APBF) was established to address this concern.
Launched on June 16, 2010, the foundation has reached more than 20,000 public school students, who are grateful to have discovered the value of faith and daily work, faith and study, and faith and family life.

APBF 5th anniversary
APBF 5th anniversary celebration, Recognition, and 2013 Christmas Party
The Alalay sa Pamilya at Bayan Foundation (APBF) Inc. 5th anniversary celebration (including Recognition and 2013 Christmas Party) was held at Antonia Hall, Temple Drive.
The Programme ran as follows:
We started with Mass at around 8:30AM celebrated by Fr. Richard who, among many beautiful things he said in the homily, encouraged us to keep the fire burning: "Ipagpatuloy ang pag-alab sa inyong puso ng pagliyab na nagsimula noong limang taon nang nakaraan." Commenting on the feast of St. John of the Cross, he said: "Usually, when a person or organization reaches his/its 5th year, it should be smooth sailing thereafter. Nevertheless, we should not be surprised that struggles will continue, and we should continue embracing difficulties, just like St John who was always close to the CROSS."
A special blessing and tribute was given to Ms Marievic Maala, our untiring Operations Officer, who celebrated her birthday last Dec. 12 :-)
Then the emcees recognized the presence of many representatives from the various schools: Pleasant Hills, Nueve de Febrero, Kamuning School, etc. We also recognized the presence of DR. LUZ ALMEDA, DepEd Regional Director for NCR.
Then we asked Founder and President Mrs. Annabelle Brown to address us with a few words: her main message is we must continue the good work that has already been begun in favor of PAMILYA AT BAYAN. After her, our important patron, Dr. Walter Brown, spoke to commit his continuing support of the projects of Alalay sa Pamilya at Bayan, referring to the continued energies of his wife Annabelle which seem to be "on the increase with each year that passes" :-)
Then a special recognition awarding rite was held, in various categories: (1) the "pioneers" and pillars, viz., Marlowe Sage, Rina Tobias, Yollie Leon, etc.[N.B. In the absence of the .jpg of the Tarp & Certificate of Recogntion, I share here a screenshot of what was given to me...]
MARAMING SALAMAT PO, MABUHAY PO KAYONG LAHAT! NAWA'Y PAGPALAIN TAYO NG MARAMI PANG VOLUNTEERS NA KAILANGAN NG ATING LIPUNAN!
Dr. Luz Almeda also spoke and, in addition to recognizing the generous support and work of APBF in favor of our public school teachers, challenged us to give the same Values Formation and help to the 800+ schools within her jurisdiction!
With the kind approval of Founder and President Mrs Annabelle Brown, we were enjoined to carry on with our work in the next 5 years and beyond, with a special focus on the training and formation of the youth and of the schoolteachers :-)
VOLUNTEERS BADLY NEEDED!

Family and Marriage
I bumped into a great video “5 keys relating to Family & Marriage” thru Anibal Cuevas’ blog:
The video [SPANISH] is here:
The video says that the “5 keys to great family life & to a great marriage” are:
(1) A detail of LOVE (wife to husband & husband to wife) everyday;
(2) “Intense falling in love” (“obsession with one’s spouse”), firm belief in indissolubility (making it work);
(3) Achieving EQUALITY via DIFFERENCE;
(4) LOVE LIFE! Children are a blessing!
Welcome the children that God will send;
(5) Dare to be HAPPY!
HOW ABOUT YOU? HAVE YOU SHOWN EVEN JUST ONE (1) OF THE ABOVE? :-)

RADIO GUESTING AT RMN, DZXL, 11am-12nn, Oct. 21, 2012
[above: Marievic, Aliza, John, and Joseph]
It was quite auspicious that we managed to feature "Alalay sa Pamilya at Bayan Foundation" (APBF) today, October 21, 2012, which is also the day of the canonization of the second Filipino Saint, Pedro Calungsod, catechist and lay teen. We talked about APBF's Vision and Mission and its various activities, highlighting our Values Education classes delivered in public schools in Metro Manila, as well as the classes of CATECHESIS we impart. Joseph talked about volunteering and the volunteer's work.
We also spoke about the "Year of Faith" which opened last October 11, 2012. We were so pleased with 2 callers, who wished to phone in certain queries. Helen of Cainta asked whether these classes involved religious education and whether the students have to pay for these, to which we replied "No, they just have to set aside an extra day during the week to attend these formative classes, and it is preferable that the school principal endorse our program and tie up with APBF for our volunteers to schedule their visits to their school."
We likewise asked John Juat to share with us:
1) his poetry "Pagiging Isang Apostol" and
2) the letter to the editor of Phil. Daily Inquirer which was published last Oct. 5th.
Alalay sa Pamilya at Bayan was featured in opusdei.ph after an article on APBF was published in the Philippine Daily Inquirer last September 23, 2012.
Last October 6, 2012 (10th Anniversary of the Canonization of St. Josemaria Escriva), we held our Volunteers' Training Seminar, where Aliza gave a talk on "Prudence" and Minette Sison spoke of "Elegance, Modesty, Femininity".
