Alalay sa Pamilya at Bayan Christmas party 2011 and Book Launch
On 10 December 2011 (Saturday), Alalay sa Pamilya at Bayan Foundation (APBF) came together in the various beneficiary schools —viz.:
Nueve de Febrero Elementary School, Pleasant Hills Elementary School and Eulogio Rodriguez
Integrated School— to have Holy Mass celebrated and Confessions held, for the benefit of the
students and teachers who have been working together in the past several months to augment the
education delivered in those schools.
In APBF, emphasis is laid on character education, especially on those human virtues
that will make of the pupils more reliable citizens of the nation, such as: obedience to authority,
industriousness, respect for neighbor, service-orientedness, and the like. The volunteers delivering
these modules have likewise augmented the academic learning in the public schools through
academic tutorials, mentoring, and the teaching of Catechism. Mentoring holds extraordinary
promise, as this personal follow-up ensures training and guidance that is appropriate and suited to
the circumstances of each one.
In recent months, the organizers of APBF have realized that it is critically important to
augment and improve the teaching skills of the school teachers themselves. Thus, last October, a
series of Teachers’ Training seminars was held at the APBF facility in Tanay, Rizal. Close to 200
teachers of Ramon Magsaysay High School were some of the participants in said seminar. The
training series will continue via quarterly modules to be delivered in the school premises or out-of-
town starting in January 2012.
